Intestinal Cleansing
After a colonic, many people ask me, “Now how do you clean the small intestines?” A very good question.
Today there are numerous intestinal cleansing products on the market, as well as many different ways to clean the intestines. In my experience, it is best to consult an experienced cleansing coach, initially and throughout the entire cleanse. There are many important factors involved, based on your constitution, health condition, and any other minor/major symptoms. Sometimes it is necessary to go through a pre-cleansing period to prepare your body for intestinal cleansing.
My foremost advice on choosing products: “Do not buy on T.V.!” Also, choose products wisely to avoid wasting your money or damaging your health.
Why do you clean intestines or do any other detox?
• One of my clients said, “Keep the garbage can clean to keep the flies away!” Illness is the result of overload toxicity and malnourishment. If we lead our body to be acidic, polluted and congested, it will weaken our organ functions, then eventually manifest disease. If you practice regular detoxification, rejuvenation and balance your body, you will maintain good health or even improve your health.
• All the cells in your body are depending upon your digestive system to receive nutrients and function optimally. It is very important to keep your intestinal tract clean, alkaline, and flora ph balanced.
• In the stomach, intestinal walls, and colon, undigested food or toxic load can create layers of plaque (also known as mucoid plaque).
• As this plaque thickens and hardens, it will be a home for many unhealthy causes, such as parasites, pathogenic bacteria, candida and heavy metals. Any of those will interfere with regular elimination and nutrient assimilation, which could lead to organ malfunction and disease. Just as you brush your teeth and shower regularly, I urge you to also clean your intestinal track regularly.

Mucoid Plaque
When I was about 23 years old, I read my first book about mucoid plaque in the intestines written by Dr. Bernard Jensen, “Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management”. On page 23 of his book, he describes mucoid plaque: “The heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefaction. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level.”
On Page 27 he states, “One autopsy revealed a colon to be 9 inches in diameter with a passage through it no larger than a pencil. The rest was caked up layer upon layer of encrusted fecal material. This accumulation can have the consistency of truck tire rubber. It is that hard and black. Another autopsy revealed a stagnant colon to weigh in at an incredible 40 pounds. Imagine carrying around all that morbid accumulated waste.” Some of his autopsies revealed that in some cases the bowel was 12 inches in diameter.
On page 62 Dr. Jensen explains, “As we work with eliminating the encrusted mucus lining, we must also consider nourishing the new cells below it.” Here is where I was inspired to pay attention on intestinal health as part of my path.

I followed his instructions, and witnessed this mucoid plaque being discharged from me. This changed my life and the life of many others after that. As a cleansing coach by nature, I have seen various kinds of elimination from my clients, including pennies swallowed as a child and the shoestrings of a doll. I saw one piece of stool that came off the wall like a 5-inch wide doughnut, with a tiny pin hole opening in the middle!
On page 67 Dr. Jensen suggests, “Bowel cleansing is an essential element in any lasting healing program. The toxic waste must be removed as quickly as possible to halt the downward spiral of failing health….”
Famous doctors who took care of their patients by taking care of their alimentary canal include Dr. Bernard Jensen, Dr. J.H. Tilden, Dr. Gersen, Dr. William Koch, Dr. Eugene Blass and Dr. John Kellogg of the Battle Creek Sanitarium.

How to cleanse
There are various ways to cleanse, which could provide an endless series of questions and answers.
Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite topics for discussion.
As I noted before, there are numerous products out there. If you are serious about cleansing, I recommend visiting any healthcare provider experienced with internal cleanse. Everyone is unique, so when a client visits us to consult about his or her cleanse, we like to provide various options based on her constitution, needs and financial ability. If one is able and ready, Ayurvedic Panchakarma seems to give the best detox results, when combined with appropriate internal purgation and colon therapy.

Michi’s other comments
If you are new to cleansing, detoxification is a very confusing topic. If you are serious about the cleanse, first think about getting a colonic. Then, follow this with intestinal cleansing, a liver or kidney cleanse, a gallbladder flush, or even a parasite cleanse. If you have the funds, consider receiving Ayurvedic therapies along with your detox program. A cleanse is better than no cleanse at all, but if you can Cleanse, Rejuvenate and Balance, that would be the ultimate. Cleansing is not just a once in a lifetime occurrence, but a regular lifestyle. This is truly a way of longevity with good health.
What to eat during cleanse
There are no simple answers to this question. It depends on what kind of cleansing program you have decided to follow. Typically, you start the cleansing on a mild phase, eating two or three meals a day, mostly consuming a cleansing support diet. A suitable cleansing support diet will be mostly green vegetables and fruit, which are alkalizing.
It also depends on your physical mental and emotional ability; since the last phase is geared toward fasting; when one only consumes fresh juice, or any other nutritional liquid to further assist detox. If you're doing Panchakarma, you will most likely be on a mono diet, such as kitchari. In my experience, it all depends on the individual situation.
If your body allows, you can eat raw food. Then again, raw food is not for everyone. It depends on your digestive system and constitution, as raw food could be very Vata aggravating. Therefore, I suggest discussing your cleansing program with an experienced cleansing coach.
If you're capable, fasting is an effective way to rest your digestive system and kindle the digestive fire. It also rids your body of excess toxins, whether they originate physically, mentally, or emotionally. Regular, short term fasting is another way of preserving health as it promotes mind/body clarity. I favor regular, short term fasting versus infrequent long term fasting, since fasting for long periods with a lack of nutrients, will debilitate your health and lead to doshic imbalance. Once again, I urge you to discuss your cleansing or fasting program with an experienced cleansing coach.
